ILOILO City – A 13-year-old girl claimed her uncle raped her for over five years in their house in Mandurriao district.
The victim, Nene (not her real name), complained to the police that her 30-year-old uncle raped her many times since she was nine years old.
Nene could not recall how many times she was raped, but said it first happened when she was watching television alone in the suspect’s house.
She added that after raping her, the suspect gave her money, but she threw it away. Police said the victim was threatened that her parents would be hurt should she report what happened to her.
There were also times when the suspect raped her in their own house when her mother was not around for work, said the girl.
The alleged sexual abuse came to light when the girl’s mother threatened that her 19-year-old boyfriend would be charged for rape.
They reported the incident to the Mandurriao police station on Sept. 30.
The suspect, however, was no longer in the house.
“We are preparing to file a complaint against the suspect. We are calling him to surrender and face the charges,” said Police Major Rey Sumagaysay, chief of the Mandurriao police station./PN
