ILOILO City – A 14-year-old girl claimed that her neighbor raped her on Sunday night, July 28, in a barangay in Lapuz district.
According to Captain Lester Oliveros, commander of the Police Station 8 in Lapuz, the victim alleged the incident happened at 7:30 p.m. while she was walking in a dim area. She was suddenly grabbed by the 29-year-old suspect and brought to an abandoned house.
“After the incident they went out of the house, but the house owner saw them. The owner noticed that something wrong happened and the victim’s mother was immediately informed,” Oliveros said.
The suspect fled, but he was arrested around 10:30 a.m. on Monday in La Paz area. He was detained at the La Paz police station.
Oliveros said the suspect will be charged with rape.
The suspect, meanwhile, claimed that the victim was the one who initiated the incident./PN
