ILOILO City – A 14-year-old girl failed to go home after visiting the cemetery in Ajuy, Iloilo on Nov. 1. Police said she was raped and her naked photos were posted on Facebook.
On Nov. 2, the police of Ajuy rescued the girl, a Grade 8 student, and arrested two suspects.
Police said 29-year-old Raffie Zamora of Barangay Culasi, Ajuy faces a rape charge while 43-year-old Jonie Arcenal of Barangay Don T. Lutero West, Janiuay town faces a complaint for human trafficking.
The two were brothers-in-law and Zamora was the victim’s boyfriend, according to the Ajuy police station.
From what the police investigators so far gathered, around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday the suspects took the girl from the cemetery to a house where the rape was carried out.
The girl’s family sought the police’s assistance after she failed to return home on Nov. 1.
With the help of a friend of the victim, the cops were able to arrest the suspects and rescue the girl.
The arrest was effected around 5 p.m. at the Ceres bus terminal in Barangay Camalig, Jaro, Iloilo City. The suspects were taken to the Ajuy police station.
According to Chief Inspector Charlie Sustento, Ajuy police chief, the girl’s photos were taken after she was raped and these were posted by the suspects in her Facebook page “as if looking for customers.”
Policemen were able to locate the suspects through the help of the victim’s classmate, Lanie, 16.
Lanie sought the police’s assistance after receiving a message from the victim through a social media app inviting her to a meet-up. It was later found out that it was Zamora communicating with Lanie and convincing her to share nude photos, too.
“Nag pretend kami nga si Lanie para ma-locate namon kun diin sila. The suspects agreed to meet us at the bus terminal in Jaro with the victim. We arrested them,” said Sustento.
At the Ajuy police station, the victim told the police Zamora raped her on Tuesday night./PN
