ILOILO City – A taxi driver landed in jail after he allegedly tried to abduct his 16-year-old female passenger in Bolilao, Mandurriao district.
The 30-year-old Roderick Olay of Barangay Agjawan, Dueñas, Iloilo was caught Friday.
His passenger – whose name was withheld – claimed she boarded a cab driven by Olay at a mall in Mandurriao district around 3:30 p.m. that day. She then asked to be taken to Barangay Sambag, Jaro district.
According to the police, the suspect, while traversing in Barangay Bolilao, suddenly turned right and entered the Queens Court motel.
The victim told police she began to panic when she realized the driver was not heading to her destination. When they entered the drive-in motel, she hurriedly got out of the taxi and sought help from the security guard.
The suspect, meanwhile, denied these accusations. But when the police checked the footage of the camera installed in the taxi, the portion recorded during the incident was already been deleted.
Olay was detained in the lockup cell of the Mandurriao police station, facing charges./PN
