ILOILO – A two-year-old girl drowned after she allegedly fell into the irrigation canal near their home in Barangay Cau-ayan, Pototan town around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
“Nagapanglaba ako kag ang bata ara sa akon magulang (nga) tiyo niya, busy man ini ka tulok sa cellphone ang magulang ko. Wala niya natalupangdan ang bata,” said Jenny Constantinopla, the child’s mother.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), Pototan police station, Mountain Tiger Rescue Group, and barangay officials initiated a search and retrieval operation, but the child was not found.
“Ginpangita namon, wala na makita. Didto na kag nakahambal kami nga basi nahulog kag nalumos,” said Constantinopla.
Yesterday at around 10 a.m., the body of the child was recovered./PN
