ILOILO City – A six-year-old girl from Barangay Kasingkasing, Molo district died minutes after celebrating her sixth birthday in Leon, Iloilo.
Nenia Verayo died of severe head injuries. The “tric-ab” she was in came tumbling down a steep slope in Barangay Mali-ao, Leon on Sunday.
Verayo’s cousin, the seven-year-old Kyla Manaay, also died.
Their other companions survived the crash but were taken to the Aleosan District Hospital in nearby Alimodian town. They were Arnel Palec, 46, tri-cab driver; Renel Palec, 6; Ellah Verayo, 19; Mary Jean Espenetra, 46; Rosemar Espenetra, 24; Frevelyn Dela Llana, 15.
The road accident happened around 6:45 p.m. Verayo and company were on their way home from the Bucari mountain resort, said Inspector Jose Rommel Samson, Leon police chief.
“The road was steep. The driver lost control of the tri-cab,” said Samson./PN
