BACOLOD City – All 61 villages in this capital city should give their “100-percent cooperation” in relation to the ongoing operation of the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) at city hall, said Liga ng mga Barangay president Lady Gles Pallen.
The Taculing village chief added that she already reached out to all barangays officials in the city through call and text regarding the matter.
The BOSS started operating on Jan. 3 at the Bacolod City Government Center. It aims to make “easier and faster” the business permit and tax payment transactions by having concerned local government departments and agencies in one place.
Villages were required to be present at BOSS to release barangay clearances to business permit applicants, according to the city’s Permits and Licensing Division.
Last week, Executive Assistant Samuel Montoyo Sr. warned barangays not in BOSS of facing complaint at the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Civil Service Commission and the Office of the President.
As of Jan. 4, only 44 out of 61 barangays in Bacolod participated in BOSS, said Montoyo in his latest update to the press.
The executive aide said he will make public the names of the 17 noncompliant barangays should they fail to show up at city hall today.
Montoyo said officials of these erring barangays may face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 11032, the law that amended The Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 to further “promote ease of doing business and efficient delivery of government services.”
Public officials who are found guilty of violating RA 11032 will be fined from P500,000 to P2 million with imprisonment of at least six months and at most six years, he added./PN
