ILOILO City – The Global Business Power Corp. (GBP) – through subsidiaries Panay Energy Development Corp. and Panay Power Corp. – conducted training for teachers from its adopted schools.
The training, dubbed as “How to Prepare an Effective PowerPoint Presentation with basic Excel Functions,” was held in partnership with West Visayas State University’s (WVSU) College of Education.
A total of 50 elementary teachers from five of GBP’s adopted schools attended the training, which sought to enhance the competence of the educators by using technology for teaching through the use of basic Microsoft programs such as Power Point and Excel.
“GBP has always been a partner for education, so we complement teachers’ skills through training to make them more effective in their roles as educators in our communities,” said PEDC Assistant Vice President-Plant Manager Mer Cruz.
Professor Agustin Divinagracia III of WVSU affirmed this, saying: “Teachers should never stop learning for education is a continuous process.”
GBP operates 11 power generation facilities in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan, and Mindoro. In 2017, the company acquired a 50-percent stake in Mindanao-based Alsons Thermal Energy Corp./PN
