OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Four (4) COVID positive cases in Global Business Power
Earlier today, August 26, 2020, we received the RT-PCR test results of our contractor wherein four (4) of them were tested positive with COVID-19.
Three (3) of them are from Power Zaver Techno Services Corporation (PZTSC) while one (1) is from Specialized Products & Services, Inc. (SPSI).
These individuals are part of the team of contractors coming from Luzon who will be engaged in the annual preventive maintenance of one of the units in our coal-fired power plant this coming September 3, 2020.
The health and safety of our employees, contractual workers, security personnel, third-party partners, and guests is the top priority of Global Business Power and we have implemented stringent safety and health precautionary measures in our power plant facility.
We are one with our local leaders and the community in this war against COVID-19; thus, we have coordinated with the local government units of Iloilo and Aklan, and followed all the guidelines that they have set prior to the travel of these individuals to Iloilo.
They arrived last Saturday, August 22 via RORO (Batangas – Caticlan Port) and Kalibo Airport. They all tested negative of COVID-19 prior to their travel to Iloilo. They were picked up by a bus rental from their point of entry to the plant. The bus driver and conductor were in complete PPE during the transit.
Upon arrival, they were brought to their quarantine facilities and closely monitored by the nurse and the security personnel to ensure that they follow the quarantine guidelines. They underwent RT-PCR test inside the plant facility last Sunday, August 23.
While under quarantine, they were required to strictly adhere to the minimum health standards i.e. mandatory wearing of masks, physical distancing, and handwashing. Temperature check and monitoring of signs and symptoms have been done by our nurses. To date, they are asymptomatic.
Upon receiving the test result, we coordinated with the City Health Office and this afternoon, they were picked up by the ICER and brought to the city-accredited facility quarantine.
Total disinfection of the quarantine facility where they were staying was also done by our Administration Services Department in accordance to the guidelines set by the Department of Health.
These are unsettling times and COVID-19 has greatly impacted and changed our lives; however, I am confident that we will get through this, together.
For now, I urge everyone to say a prayer of healing for all those who are sick and remain calm and vigilant. Let us continue to exercise our part by being socially responsible especially in the dissemination of information. Let us avoid spreading unverified and unofficial information. Always follow the fundamental guidelines i.e. wearing of masks, hand hygiene, observance of social/physical distancing, and most importantly, stay healthy.
