MANILA – Global FC has committed to settle all overdue payables to players and staff within the next 10 days to make good on their contractual obligations before the start of the 2020 Philippines Football League (PFL).

The football club’s commitment came after a meeting with PFL management led by Commissioner Mikhail Torre on Thursday afternoon.

“Global FC has addressed the allegations raised against the club that it has incurred delay in its financial obligations to its players and staff,” PFL Commissioner Mikhail Torre said in a statement sent to Panay News.

“The Management has expressed their commitment to settle all overdue payables to players and staff within the next 10 days to make good on their contractual obligations,” he added.

To make sure that Global FC will make do of its promise, Torre said that the PFF Club Licensing First Instance Body shall convene prior to the start of the league to discuss the status of the club and its participation.

“It is highly important for the league to preserve the integrity among clubs,” said Torre. “Players are the league’s primary stakeholders and so we should treat issues such as these with utmost importance. I trust on the club to resolve all these issues before proceeding with further plans.”

Bacolod City-based graphic designer Saya Jaruda complained through a Facebook post on July 19 that Global FC has not yet paid him for providing graphics announcing the team’s new acquisitions.

Ghanian booter John Cofie also commented on Jaruda’s post. Cofie had earlier committed to sign with the football club but decommitted recently after not being paid of his signing fee and six months worth of salary.

The issue on salaries is nothing new for Global FC. Former players also complained of not being paid when the club was still based in Cebu City and even when it transferred to Makati last year./PN
