BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) director, Police Colonel Romy Palgue ordered all police chiefs to go after manufacturers and sellers of illegal firecrackers ahead of the holidays.
According to Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, NOCPPO spokesperson, Palgue’s order was also in response to a memorandum from the Philippine National Police (PNP) to implement the firecracker ban even before the holiday season.
Donasco said firecracker and pyrotechnic sellers must strictly adhere to the regulations set by their respective local government units.
Among the prohibited firecrackers specified by the PNP were watusi, piccolo, pop-pop, five star, atomic triangle, “goodbye De Lima,” and “goodbye Napoles.”
Firecrackers must also be used in designated areas only./PN
