ILOILO City – Central Philippine University Golden Lions continued its dominance in the ILOPRISAA Meet 2019. It captured the secondary boys football and girls and women’s futsal crowns over the weekend.
The Golden Lions secured the secondary boys football championship via a 2-0 thrashing of Ateneo de Iloilo on Saturday afternoon at the University of San Agustin here.
Jhong Silao drew first blood for the Golden Lions in the opening half while Rolf Alminaza doubled the advantage in the second half before they tightened their defense on Ateneo de Iloilo to come out victorious.
The Golden Lions reached the gold medal round following a 5-0 victory over PAREF-Westbridge, while Ateneo de Iloilo ousted University of San Agustin, 1-0, in the other semifinals game.
CPU Golden Lions also stamped its class in secondary girls futsal competition by securing a 4-0 victory over the Ateneo de Iloilo in the championship match.
The Golden Lions also ruled the tertiary women’s futsal by sweeping University of San Agustin in their best-of-three titular showdown.
CPU opened the series with a 4-1 victory in Game 1 before following it up with a 3-2 shootout win in Game 2 after the regulation ended at 2-all./PN
