SAN JOSE, Antique – There is enough supply of basic and prime commodities in Antique for the lean months, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Glen Fernando of the DTI-Antique assured consumers that, based on their monitoring of commodities in various establishments, supplies being sold in the province are still sufficient.
“We have not heard of any ‘critical’ item,” he said on Thursday.
The DTI monitors 52 additional brands of basic and prime commodities under the Expanded Suggested Retail Price (SRP) as of July 16.
“Examples of the additional brands … are the Atami Green and Family Bonus Pack Plain canned sardines in tomato sauce,” said Fernando.
Other basic commodities under their watch are processed milk, like Alaska Sweetened Filled Milk, and coffee, such as Great Taste Twin Pack.
The DTI-Antique is also checking on the prices of prime commodities like vinegar and soy sauce in refill packs, he said.
Fernando reminded retailers to adhere with the Expanded SRP.
Establishments found noncompliant during the regular monthly monitoring will be issued a Letter of Inquiry, the DTI said.
Fernando also encouraged consumers to be vigilant – make sure that the prices of the goods they are buying are within the SRP. (PNA)
