SAFER roads are what everyone wants, right? Luckily for us, Google is putting their time and effort into helping us achieve that.
What they’ve done is simple: They’ve taken the company’s tried-and-tested navigation application and made it even better.
This new rumored Google Maps feature we’re talking about will cater more to pedestrians than to drivers. Although there hasn’t been any official confirmation from Google as of this writing, several reports have revealed that a future version of Google Maps could include a feature dubbed as “Lighting” to let a user identify the streets that are well-lit at night by marking them in yellow. Not only would this help people avoid road accidents; it could also help prevent them from falling victim to crimes.
The speculations arose when developers dug up the code via an “APK teardown” of the software’s beta version. This is also the reason there have been no official images of the feature in full operation as of yet. No word as well on how Google plans to maintain the information up-to-date and accurate. The hearsay, though, is that the feature is expected to be rolled out in India first, with other countries following shortly thereafter.
