ILONGGOS have more options for a safe and reliable commute. GrabCar mobility service is now available in Iloilo City.
Grab Philippines formally launched the GrabCar service in the City of Love on March 24 at Richmonde Hotel lloilo.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said the presence of GrabCar is a very welcome development.
Better transportation plays a crucial role in the development of the city and enhances the experience of both locals and tourists enjoying our culture and destinations.
It also opens new employment or livelihood opportunities for the Ilonggos.
This, Treñas added, is consistent with the city’s mission of encouraging economic, social, and financial activity as an equal-opportunity employer.
“As the mayor, I strive for a future where there is greater innovation and opportunity. I am happy because Grab shares this goal by driving us to shape a better tomorrow,” said Treñas.
Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 6 director Richard Osmeña said the regional office has allocated 1,700 franchises for GrabCar in Iloilo City.
“In keeping with the big dream of Iloilo City to be the next top-tier, highly developed city in the country, the opening of GrabCar Iloilo is a step in the right direction. It is a most welcome development, and it needs all our support,” Osmeña added.
Meanwhile, one of the newest additions to Grab’s offering in Iloilo, GrabCar, marks the official start of the road to 500,000 livelihood opportunities in the transport sector across the country.
By widening its service offerings, Grab believes it can further accelerate digital inclusion and transformation in Iloilo.
Grab is already present in Iloilo with GrabTaxi, GrabFood, and GrabExpress. Since launching its deliveries business in 2020, GrabFood is now Iloilo’s most beloved food delivery platform – winning the hearts of Ilonggo consumers and local MSMEs. Grab is bullish about its prospects of becoming No. 1 in the hearts and minds of Ilonggos when it comes to mobility services too.
“The launch of GrabCar in Iloilo is a very exciting time as it marks the beginning of our journey towards delivering hundreds of thousands of meaningful livelihoods to our kababayans. We aim to delight our Ilonggo locals and tourists and deliver the very best service to our consumers as well as our driver and merchant partners. We also hope to be a catalyst for the digitalization for many Ilonggo institutions and become part of everyday life,” says Grab Philippines Country Head Grace Vera Cruz.
According to a report by the World Economic Forum, Iloilo City is one of the Philippines’ top 5 cities in terms of digital transformation. GrabCar’s launch in the city reaffirms Grab’s undiluted commitment to empowering the Ilonggos and aiding the digital transformation process.
“Grab is very grateful to our local and national government and business partners who help us continue our mission of empowering everyday entrepreneurs through our platform. We are deeply motivated by the Iloilo community’s fervent support for digital transformation initiatives and digital platforms. With the success of Grabfood and now through the launch of GrabCar, Grab hopes to make a positive contribution to the life of every Ilonggo,” Vera Cruz added./PN
