MANILA — Neophyte senator Grace Poe has authored more than 100 measures during her first year as lawmaker.
Of the total number, 34 were proposed laws and 73 were resolutions.
She filed the People’s Freedom of Information Act, which promises transparency in government transactions, in March. It got initial nod in the Upper House.
Her Dangerous Drugs Act and Free Mobile Disasters Alert Act were awaiting the signature of President Benigno Aquino III.
“Our people are relentless in pursuing strong government reforms, and so must we match their efforts with the same fervor,” she said.
Two of her measures, the Closed-Captioning bill and Film Tourism bill, were up for second reading.
Poe said the closed-caption television system will allow hearing-impaired Filipinos to access information.
The Film Tourism bill, on the other hand, seeks to promote the Philippines as a “prime shooting destination,” according to the former Movie and Television Review and Classification Board chief.
Her other bills include Bakod Central Visayas Act, Assistance for Indigent Cancer Patients Act, Plain Writing for Public Service Act and Credit Assistance for Overseas Filipino Workers Act, among others.
Poe said she will pursue advocacies uplifting governance when Congress opens its second regular session.
