BACOLOD City – A Grade 3 pupil was found lifeless along the road in Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
The eight-year-old boy was believed to have been accidentally electrocuted by a “duplex electrical wire” of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco). He was holding the wire, police said.
The boy was found at about 3:46 p.m. on Jan. 24 by two 14-year-old youngsters passing by.
Police said the boy was on his way home and may have picked up the wire that got detached from an improvised electric post going to the house of a certain Ariel Villanueva.
Responders brought the boy to the Bago City District Hospital where he was declared “dead on arrival”.
In a statement, Ceneco insisted it had no liability. The electrical wire was a “flying connection”, it stressed.
The police, however, is pursuing an investigation./PN
