Grains retailers hold Iloilo congress

MANILA – The Confederation of Grains Retailers Association of the Philippines (Grecon), a private-partner organization of the National Food Authority (NFA), will host a two-day provincial congress at the Centennial Resort, Hotel and Convention Center in Jaro district here beginning today.

Sen. Cynthia Villar will give a keynote speech today. She chairs the Senate committee on agriculture.

Villar had called for several Senate investigations on the alleged massive illegal importation of rice.

The congress starts at 2 p.m.

This year’s theme is, “Grecon Hawak Kamay sa Pamahalaan sa Pagsulong ng Seguridad sa Pagkain ng Sambayanan.”
Secretary Proceso Alcala of the Department of Agriculture has also been invited to speak before 1,500 confederation members in the Visayas.
