BACOLOD City – The local government unit(LGU) here will grant gratuity pay and burial assistance to barangay officials.
Barangay officials qualified are those who have been validly elected or appointed.
Councilor Dindo Ramos, author of the newly passed ordinance on the gratuity pay, identified the beneficiaries – punong barangay, barangay kagawad and Sangguniang Kabataan chairman.
Here’s the gratuity pay:
* P5,000 for those who have completed their first term of office and opted not to seek reelection or have lost in the immediate succeeding election
* P10,000 for those who have completed their second term of office and opted not to seek reelection or have lost in the immediate succeeding election
* P5,000 for those who have completed their third term of office
Also, the city will grant burial assistance to beneficiaries payable to the immediate member of the family of the deceased incumbent barangay official in the amount of P15,000 to help defray the expenses incident to the burial of the deceased barangay official.
Ramos clarified that for a former barangay official who died outside of his tour of duty but had completed at least one term of office, P10,000 shall also be granted to the immediate member of his family as burial assistance./PN
