ILOILO City – Former anti-corruption commissioner and Bisaya Gyud Party-list’s representative Greco Belgica visited Iloilo City to champion initiatives focused on economic empowerment, governance reforms, and public safety. His visit underscored the party-list’s commitment to creating opportunities for Filipinos while strengthening transparency and accountability in government.
Recognizing the struggles of businesses and workers in the current economic climate, Belgica emphasized the urgent need for a pro-business environment that fosters job creation and investment.
“The rising cost of goods, inflation, and limited employment opportunities have made it harder for ordinary Filipinos to make ends meet. We need proactive solutions to stimulate our economy,” Belgica said.
One of the key initiatives proposed by the Bisaya Gyud Party-list is the establishment of “business global islands” and “business global cities” across the country. These designated areas will attract investors, support local enterprises, and generate employment for Filipinos.
Belgica, known for his strong stance against corruption, also called for urgent measures to eliminate bureaucratic inefficiencies and red tape that hinder economic growth.
“Corruption continues to plague our government, limiting opportunities for progress. We need stronger reforms to hold officials accountable and ensure a level playing field for businesses,” he stressed.
His legislative agenda includes streamlining government processes to make it easier for entrepreneurs and investors to set up and sustain businesses, thereby increasing job opportunities.
Beyond economic concerns, Belgica highlighted the importance of a safer and more secure society. His advocacy includes reinforcing the fight against illegal drugs, which he believes remains a root cause of poverty and criminality.
“We need decisive leadership to remove corrupt officials and law enforcers who allow illegal activities to thrive. Public safety is critical in creating an environment where families and businesses can flourish,” he added.
To support these efforts, the Bisaya Gyud Party-list plans to establish ten command centers nationwide. These hubs will serve as direct channels for the public to report corruption, seek employment assistance, and access government services.
During his visit, Belgica, who traced his roots to Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, led a caravan across Iloilo City to personally introduce the party-list’s advocacies and listen to the concerns of local residents. The engagement reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots governance and people-centered policies. Belgica’s anti-corruption and pro-business agenda has earned support from key national leaders, including former President Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Bong Go.
With a firm vision for a stronger and more self-sufficient Philippines, he continues to push for reforms that prioritize the welfare of Filipinos. /PN
