ILOILO City – Greco Belgica of the Bisaya Gyud Party-list visited this southern city on Thursday, February 20, advocating for stronger measures against corruption, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and illegal drugs while also stressing the importance of improving education, peace and order, and employment opportunities.
During a press conference at Samurai Talabahan Seafood Restaurant on Sen. Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Avenue (Diversion Road) in Mandurriao district, Belgica addressed the economic difficulties faced by businesses and workers. He emphasized that an unfavorable economic environment is hindering progress, leading to inflation and the rising cost of basic commodities.
“The current business and work environment is not conducive to growth, leading to significant inflation and higher prices of commodities,” Belgica said.
He further elaborated that corruption and bureaucratic red tape, which had previously been reduced, are once again becoming rampant due to the lack of decisive action from authorities.
Belgica underscored the importance of having a seat in Congress to advocate for change and strong political will. He stressed that as a congressman, he would have the power to influence policies, propose reforms, expose corrupt officials, and push for the removal of law enforcement personnel involved in illicit activities.
“If we have a position in Congress as a representative, the government will hear us. We will have the power to legislate, recommend reforms, expose corruption, and remove officials or law enforcers involved in illegal activities,” Belgica asserted.
One of the major initiatives being proposed by the Bisaya Gyud Party-list is the creation of more jobs and better livelihood opportunities through the development of business global islands and business global cities across the country. According to Belgica, this initiative aims to stimulate economic activity, encourage investments, and provide employment opportunities for Filipinos.
To further support their advocacy, the party-list is also planning to establish 10 command centers nationwide. These centers will serve as public assistance hubs where individuals can seek help regarding various concerns, including corruption complaints and employment opportunities.
Belgica highlighted that these command centers will play a crucial role in ensuring accountability and providing immediate support to those in need.
As part of their Iloilo City visit, the Bisaya Gyud Party-list conducted a caravan earlier in the day. The event served as an opportunity to formally introduce the party-list’s platform and advocacies to the Ilonggo community. Supporters and the public gathered to hear Belgica and his team discuss their plans and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Filipinos.

Belgica, a former politician and past commissioner of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), has long been an advocate for good governance and transparency. He has been actively campaigning against corruption and illegal drugs, which he believes are among the biggest obstacles to national development.
His anti-corruption stance has earned him the endorsement of former President Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Bong Go, both of whom have been vocal about their commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring a more efficient government.
Belgica also touched on the importance of education in shaping the future of the country. He stated that providing quality education to the youth is essential in equipping them with the skills necessary to secure stable employment and contribute to national progress.
“Education plays a crucial role in nation-building. If we can provide quality education and ensure that our youth are well-equipped with the necessary skills, we can open doors for better job opportunities and improve their quality of life,” Belgica said.
He further noted that reforms in the education system should focus on skills development, vocational training, and industry-relevant courses to better prepare graduates for the workforce.
With his continued push for reforms, Belgica remains committed to advocating for policies that will benefit Filipinos, particularly in terms of economic growth, employment generation, and the fight against corruption.
