CAPIZ – A grenade exploded outside the house of Dumarao town’s Mayor Mateo Hachuela in Barangay Poblacion Ilaya on Saturday night, Aug. 5.
There were no reported casualties, injures or major damage to properties but according to Dumarao police chief Captain Achilles Fangco Jr., the blast left debris.
The safety lever of the grenade believed to be an M26 was recovered.
Fangco said the municipal mayor had not received any death threats that could be linked to the grenade blast.
No suspects have been identified yet as of this writing but the police are securing copies of closed-circuit television camera footages within the area./PN
