BACOLOD City – A groom-to-be was arrested after he was charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female student.
The 26-year-old Andrelo Castangelo was detained at the police station in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Castangelo was a resident of Hacienda Lilia in Barangay Cadiz Viejo, Cadiz City, said Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, the city police head.
From what the police have gathered, he was set to get married this December.
Officers arrested the suspect two hours after the alleged rape happened.
Castangelo was accused of bringing the victim to a secluded place in their barangay at around 6 p.m. Monday and raping her several times, police said.
The victim’s family reported him to the police’s Women and Children Protection Desk, which in turn caught him in his house.
Another rape suspect was arrested two days later, this time in Barangay 1 in the municipality of Hinoba-an.
Elmer Alisasis Medel, a 38-year-old resident, had been charged before the Regional Trial Court Branch 61 (Kabankalan City), said Chief Inspector Jerry Nacion, Hinoba-an police commander.
Judge Rosario Ester Orda Caise issued the warrant for his arrest on Nov. 19, 2014 yet. She recommended no bail.
Officers served Medel the warrant at around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
