BACOLOD City – A group has sought the help of Task Force Crusaders (TFC) to investigate the P537-million loan of the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa).
Wennie Sancho, secretary general of Water Watch, asked TFC national commander John Chiong to write to the president asking for an investigation on Baciwa’s loan from the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA).
TFC is an organized group that is “against crimes, corruption, illegal drugs and terrorism.”
Chiong said the consumers want to know where the P537 million, which was loaned in 2002, went.
“We would also want to know if the LWUA, the agency that provides loan to Baciwa, knows where the loan goes,” Chiong added. “The two offices must be investigated.”
Sancho said that with the numerous complaints on inefficiency and lack of adequate water supply, the consumers deserve to know if the amount loaned was spent to improve Baciwa’s service and facilities.
“It is unfortunate that the consumers were deceived by making them believed that there was water gushing in the pipes when actually there was none. Isn’t it a waste of money?” Sancho added./PN
