GSW drubs Detroit, goes back-to-back

GOLDEN State Warriors leaned on a sturdy fourth quarter rally and took down Detroit Pistons, 116-106, in their 2020-2021 National Basketball Association (NBA) Season at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, United States on Tuesday night (Wednesday in the Philippines).

Down 86-89 with over eight minutes left, Andrew Wiggins tied the count for the Warriors with a triple before taking a 98-89 lead on baskets by Brad Wanamaker, James Wiseman and another Wiggins triple.

More three-pointers from Wiggins and Stephen Curry pushed Golden State’s lead to 106-93. The Pistons made their last push as they came to as close as 103-108 on a Derrick Rose triple and a layup by Isaiah Stewart.

The Warriors, however, put the game away with a triple by Damion Lee and three free throws from Curry for a 114-103 count before Lee connected another basket with under a minute left.

Curry finished the match with 31 points while Wiggins broke his scoring slump with 27 markers as the Warriors improved to a 2-2 win-loss card.

Jerami Grant ended the match with 27 points while Josh Jackson added 17 markers for the 0-4 Pistons, which lost forward Blake Griffin and rookie guard Killian Hayes in the game due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Joel Embiid shook off injury scare as he powered Philadelphia 76ers to a come-from-behind 100-93 victory over the slumping Toronto Raptors at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Embiid spearheaded the 76ers from 11 points down en route to their third win in four games.

Embiid finished the match with double-double 29 points and 16 rebounds while Tobias Harris added 26 markers and 11 boards. Kyle Lowry had 24 points, nine assists and four rebounds for the 0-3 Raptors.

Meanwhile, Orlando Magic stretched its unbeaten record to four games with a 118-107 triumph over Oklahoma City Thunder (1-2). Nikola Vucevic capped the game with 28 points and 10 rebounds while Dwayne Bacon contributed 18 markers for Orlando.

In other results, New York Knicks (2-2) handed Cleveland Cavaliers (3-1) their first loss, 95-86; Boston Celtics (2-2) tarnished Indiana Pacers (3-1), 116-111; Chicago Bulls (1-3) edged Washington Wizards (0-4), 115-107; and Milwaukee Bucks (2-2) dumped Miami Heat (1-2), 144-97.
