DEFENDING champions Golden State Warriors shaked up its roster at the end of the 2022-2023 NBA Season trade deadline on Thursday (Friday in the Philippines) with the reacquisition of Gary Payton II.
Payton saw his way back to the Warriors as part of the four-team, four-player trade that also involved Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and Portland Trail Blazers.
To complete the deal, the Hawks send five second round draft picks to the Pistons for Saddiq Bey. Detroit then shipped the five picks along with Kevin Knox to the Warriors for center James Wiseman.
The Warriors then quickly shipped Knox and the five second round picks to the Trail Blazers for Payton, who played a key role in Golden State’s championship run in the 2021-2022 NBA season.
The Blazers, meanwhile, locked in on defensive forward Matisse Thybulle in a three-team trade that send Jalen McDaniels to Philadelphia 76ers and Svi Mykhailiuk to the Charlotte Hornets.
Los Angeles Lakers was also a busy team in trade deadline as they shipped Thomas Bryant to Denver Nuggets for Davon Reed while also trading Patrick Beverley and a second round pick to Orlando Magic for Mo Bamba.
Los Angeles Clippers, meanwhile, snagged Bones Hyland from the Nuggets for two second round picks before taking Mason Plumlee from Hornets for Reggie Jackson.
The Clippers also got a hand on veteran Eric Gordon in a three-team trade that send John Wall and Danny Green to Houston Rockets and Luke Kennard to Memphis Grizzlies.
The Rockets also got two role players from the Hawks in Aaron Holiday and Frank Kaminsky in exchange for Bruno Fernando and Garrison Mathews.
Milwaukee Bucks also unloaded some role players to secure the services of veteran forward Jae Crowder from Brooklyn Nets in a three-team, multi-player trade.
The Nets got five second round picks in the exchange, while Indiana Pacers got Jordan Nwora, George Hill, Serge Ibaka and a second round draft pick.
Oklahoma City Thunder, meanwhile, acquired Dario Saric, Josh Jackson and two second round picks by sending Darius Bazley to Phoenix Suns and Mike Muscala to Boston Celtics.
New Orleans Pelicans also shored up its guard rotation by acquiring Josh Richardson from San Antonio Spurs in exchange for point guard Devonte Graham./PN
