ILOILO City – Guimaras province’s top drug suspect has been arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Rizal, Buenavista town.
With the arrest of 40-year-old Joey Ang, the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) expressed confidence that the proliferation of illegal drugs would somehow be minimized.
Ang yielded three plastic sachets of shabu during the sting operation that operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) staged on Saturday around 6:30 p.m.
The Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Group (RAIDTG) helped in the operation.
“Our target had been under surveillance for a long time. Finally, we arrested him,” said Inspector Grace Borio, RAIDTG chief.
Borio described the suspect as Guimaras’ “top drug pusher”.
Guimaras police intelligence sources said Ang sourced his supply from Iloilo City.
PDEA previously disclosed that three drug lords operate in Iloilo City – Dragon, Buang and Bondying.
A week ago, a drug pushing suspect was arrested in a police buy-bust operation in Buenavista, too.
Leo Japitana, tricycle driver, was a resident of Barangay McLain. He was detained at the Buenavista police station after the sting operation.
The suspect yielded three plastic sachets of shabu, according to Borio.
Japitana sold a plastic sachet of shabu to an undercover policeman for P500.
He used his being a tricycle driver as a “front” for his illegal drug trade, said Borio.
The buy-bust operation was a joint undertaking of RAIDTG, Guimaras Provincial Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group and Buenavista police station.
It was unclear where Japitana got his supply./PN
