GUIMARAS – The province of Guimaras implemented the risk classification Alert Level 1 with more ease on protocols.
On Tuesday, March 1, Gov. Samuel Gumarin issued Executive Order No. 15, Series of 2022 placing the island under Alert Level 1 effective March 1, 2022, according to the declaration of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
“This favorable development necessitates further adjustments on the protocols being imposed,” Gumarin said.
“The cases of the province have, indeed, shown a substantial decline that requires a proportionate action from the provincial government if only to cushion the adverse impact of the measures being implemented at the moment,” stated an executive order.
Gumarin said that the decision of the IATF is a welcome development for the people of Guimaras.
The new protocols dictate that unvaccinated individuals are still prohibited to enter or exit Guimaras unless it is for medical reasons, those whose travels are for highly essential purposes and cases deemed meritorious by the Provincial Government of Guimaras.
Individuals who are not vaccinated and intend to enter the island must present a negative RT-PCR result. The test must be conducted no later than three (3) days before the date of travel.
All establishments in the province are now allowed to operate at full capacity, provided the minimum health standards are ensured.
However, the conduct of face-to-face classes for basic education must have the approval of the Office of the President.
Only vaccinated individuals can be accommodated at resorts, hotels, hospitality establishments, and other tourist destinations on the island.
Contact sports are now allowed, provided the participants are fully vaccinated.
Further, individuals can only participate in mass gatherings or enter an establishment upon presentation of their vaccination card.
Business establishments and public transport can now operate without limitation on operating hours.
Meanwhile, the provincial government emphasized that it has the right to subject inbound travelers to screening tests whenever necessary.
The province of Guimaras has seen a substantial decline in the number of active COVID-19 cases and new cases.
As of March 1, 2022, the province registered two new cases of COVID-19 while the active cases are down to 49. (with a report from Guimaras PIO)/PN
