JORDAN, Guimaras – The island province of Guimaras received 4,300 more doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from the Department of Health (DOH) on July 14.
These doses are intended for frontline health workers (A1 group), senior citizens (A2) and persons with comorbidities (A3).
The new deliveries brought to 24,454 the COVID-19 vaccine (17,154 CoronaVac and 7,300 AstraZeneca) doses that Guimaras got from DOH.
Guimaras has so far administered first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to 11,958 residents and second doses to 4,907 people, data (as of July 11) from DOH Region 6 showed.
As of July 14, Guimaras had 106 active COVID-19 cases and 32 deaths from the illness.
On the other hand, 973 cases have recovered.
The 106 active cases were in the following towns: Buenavista (57), Nueva Valencia (20), San Lorenzo (16), Jordan (seven), and Sibunag (six).
The 57 active cases in Buenavista were in the following barangays: Salvacion (11), New Poblacion (nine), Mclain (seven), Sto. Rosario (seven), San Miguel (three), San Pedro (three), Magsaysay (three), Cansilayan (two), East Valencia (two), Supang (two), Avila (two), Dagsaan (one), Nazaret (one), Rizal (one), San Isidro (one), Tastasan (one), and Agsanayan (one).
The 20 active cases in Nueva Valencia came from barangays San Roque (seven), Igang (five), Concordia (three), San Antonio (two), Cabalagnan (one), Lucmayan (one), and Tando (one).
The 16 active cases in San Lorenzo were from barangays Constancia (four), Cabano (three), Tamborong (two), Cabungan (two), M. Chavez (two), and Gaban (one).
The seven active cases in Jordan came from barangays Alaguisoc (three), San Miguel (two), Hoskyn (one), and Lawi (one.)
The six active cases in Sibunag were from barangays Dasal (three), Maabay (two), and Ravina (one)
Seventy-nine of Guimaras’ active COVID-19 cases were in quarantine facilities, 16 were on home quarantine, seven in hospitals in Iloilo City and five in Iloilo City’s quarantine facility./PN
