JORDAN, Guimaras – The island province of Guimaras received from the Department of Health (DOH) 6,020 more doses of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The vaccines were the following:
* AztraZeneca – 520 doses, delivered on Aug. 12
* Sinovac – 5,000 doses, delivered on Aug. 10
* Moderna – 500 doses, delivered on Aug. 10
According to the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the AstraZeneca vaccine is for the A4 priority group (economic frontliners) that include priivate sector workers who work outside their homes, employees in government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and local government units, and informal sector workers and the self-employed who work outside their homes and those working in private households.
The Moderna vaccines, on the other hand, are for senior citizens, overseas Filipino workers and persons with comorbidities.
The Sinovac vaccines are for healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, and economic frontliners.
Overall, Guimaras had received 48,174 doses of COVID-19 vaccines since DOH started releasing them in March – 33,554 doses of Sinovac; 8,120 doses of AstraZeneca; 6,000 doses of Janssen; and 500 doses of Moderna.
As of Aug. 12, Guimaras had 142 active COVID-19 cases; 1,203 recovered cases; and 39 cases that died.
Seventy-seven of the active cases came from the municipality of Nueva Valencia, 31 from Jordan, 24 from Buenavista, seven from San Lorenzo, and three from Sibunag./PN
