Guimaras gets less budget for 2023

GUIMARAS – This island province will have a P905-million budget next year, lower compared to the P1,053,228,261 budget for this year.
Vice Gov. John Edward Gando said the budget drop is a result of the provincial government’s projected reduced share of the National Tax Allocation (NTA), formerly known as the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).

May 14 percent nga cut sa tax allocation. Amo na nga tanan nga LGUs (local government units) may pagnubo (in their budgets),” explained Gando.

A large portion of the 2023 budget will be allocated for Personal Services (PS) and Maintenance and Other Operating Expense (MOOE) of the provincial government, while 20 percent of the budget will go to the development fund for the infrastructure and advocacies of Gov. Joaquin Carlos “JC” Rahman A. Nava.

The rest will go to the calamity fund, loan obligations, health services, and education, among others.

Aside from the P905 million, some P223,010,000 was set aside for the operations of the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital (DCGNPH).

Members of the 10th Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the annual budget for 2023 during their 19th regular session last Nov. 15./PN
