ILOILO City – The provincial government of Guimaras is keeping the 14-day quarantine requirement and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test for repatriated overseas Filipinos (ROFs).
Gov. Samuel Gumarin issued Executive Order (EO) No. 67 for this last week.
“Nag-issue si Gov. Samuel Gumarin sang EO nga naga-adopt sang revised protocol sa ROFs and LSIs (locally stranded individuals) who are coming sa region. Base sa sina nga protocol ang aton nga ROFs once nga magsulod diri, saluon sang provincial government kag dal-on sa quarantine facilities dira sa Iloilo City para i-swab and quarantine,” explained Vice Governor John Edward Gando, who chairs the Guimaras COVID-19 Response Executive Committee.
Earlier, the national government’s task force against COVID-19 issued a directive stating ROFs in good health and with negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test results need not stay at the quarantine facilities of their LGUs for two weeks.
But according to Gando, “We will be risking the situation sang aton individuals sa probinsya sa Guimaras if we just simply follow.”
“There is really great chance of exposure after quarantine and after the release of negative sang RT-PCR kay kadamo na sang sirkumstanya nga may negative na nga RT-PCR [halin sa Manila] result pag-abot diri naga-positive,” said Gando.
As of Tuesday, Sept. 15, Guimaras has a total of 108 cumulative COVID-19 cases.
Of the figure, 56 were local cases and 48 are locally stranded individual, Authorized Person Outside Of Residence and returning overseas Filipinos./PN
