GUIMARAS – The police provincial office of Guimaras on Sunday morning, Jan. 7, simultaneously disposed of illegal firecrackers and “boga” confiscated during the holidays.

Colonel Richard B. Baluis, director of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO), spearheaded the activity held at the Jordan Municipal Hall in Barangay Poblacion, Jordan town.

The five municipal police stations under GPPO seized a total of 120 firecrackers and “boga.”

“These accomplishments are correlated to effective implementation of laws on the use of firecrackers, intensified public information awareness on “Ligtas Paskuhan 2023,” and continuous cooperation of the whole community for a safer yuletide season in the province of Guimaras,” the GPPO said in a statement.

The police provincial office also mentioned the collective efforts of various sectors in the community.

Baluis said most of the confiscated firecrackers and “boga” were turned over by barangay officials and parents after the GPPO’s intensive information drive on illegal firecrackers./PN
