JORDAN, Guimaras – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) may likely approve on Dec. 22 the Guimaras provincial government’s proposed budget for 2021 amounting to P771,684,084.

According to Vice Gov. John Edward Gando, the Committee on Appropriations chaired by SP member David Gano concluded the budget hearings last week.

Dec. 22 is the “second to the last” session of the SP before the holiday break.

Gando said Gano’s committee is currently finalizing the report on the budget to be submitted to the plenary.

Gov. Samuel Gumarin submitted the 2021 proposed budget to the SP in October.

Personal Services was allotted the biggest share – P247 million.

Gando said infrastructure projects for Guimaras’ five towns (Jordan, Buenavista, San Lorenzo, Sibunag, and Nueva Valencia) have been allotted budgets and so are their initiatives to stop the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and in health.

The proposed 2021 provincial budget is P49-million higher than this year’s budget of P722 million./PN
