GUIMARAS – The 10th Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) here has began its deliberations on the proposed annual budget for the province of Guimaras.
According to Vice Gov. John Edward Gando, a P951,061,206 budget proposal was submitted by Gov. Joaquin Carlos Rahman A. Nava.
The budget approval will be coming from the Committee on Appropriation chaired by Board Member Alejandro D. Araneta.
“Hopefully last week of November,” Gando, presiding officer of the 10th SP, told Panay News.
The review by the Local Finance Committee is ongoing and the sector or department with the highest allocation is yet to be determined.
Next fiscal year’s budget is higher by over P45 million compared to the 2023 budget of P905 million.
A large portion of the 2023 budget was allocated for Personal Services and Maintenance and Other Operating Expense of the provincial government, while 20 percent of the budget went to the development fund for the infrastructure and advocacies of Nava.
The rest were allcated to the calamity fund, loan obligations, health services, and education, among others.
Some P223,010,000 was set aside for the operations of the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital.
