GUIMARAS State College and Sta. Teresa National High School advanced to the finals of National Basketball Training Center Guimaras leg after besting their semifinals foes on Saturday at the Guimaras State College Gym.
Guimaras State, which was the top seed at the end of the eliminations, moved on to the gold medal round following a lopsided 93-78 victory over the No. 4 ranked Good Shepherd’s Fold Academy.
Ajie Ferrer carried the load offensively for the Guimaras State with 24 markers, while Lloyd Lanado was the lone bright spot for the losing Good Sheperd’s as he finished with 18 points.
No. 3 ranked Sta. Teresa National High, meanwhile, came up with clutch conversions in the endgame to score a 97-90 victory over the No. 2 seed Buenavista National High School.
Harold Peter Balano waxed hot offensively especially in the second half to finish the game with 26 points, while John Carlo Dofitas carried the fight for Buenavista National High with 17 markers.
The Guimaras State and Sta. Teresa will battle in the best-of-three championship series beginning on Jan. 9 at the Sta. Teresa National High School Gymnasium in Jordan, Guimaras./PN
