Guimaras teacher nabbed for ‘shabu’

GUIMARAS – An elementary school teacher was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Aguilar, San Lorenzo, Guimaras on Thursday, Sept. 21.

Drug-pushing suspect Al Ray Catalbas, a 38-year-old resident of the barangay, was tagged by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) as a high-value individual.

Major Kenneth Bermejo, chief of GPPO-PDEU, said the police placed Catalbas under surveillance for nearly two months.

Eight plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 7.5 grams and valued at P51,000, drug paraphernalia, a cellphone and a motorcycle were recovered.

Bermejo said the suspect’s alleged source of illegal drugs was Iloilo and Metro Manila.

Catalbas is currently detained at the San Lorenzo Municipal Police Station. He faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
