GUIMARAS – To bring the famous Guimaras mango closer to the Ilonggos, the provincial government will hold Eco-Bazaar 2023 at Robinsons Place (Main) in Iloilo City from April 14 to 20.
The bazaar is a pre-Manggahan Festival activity, in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Guimaras. Food, crafts and other products made by Guimarasnon producers, skilled artisans, and weavers will be showcased.
Other activities are lined up for the return of the face-to-face Manggahan Festival 2023 this May 19 to 22.
Highlights of the Manggahan Festival are the “Mango-Eat-All-You-Can” and the Manggahan Cultural Competition.
Five competing “hubons” from five municipalities of Guimaras and a non-competing group from the Guimaras State University will showcase the rich culture and history of the province on May 22.
The Manggahan Festival will kick off on April 29 with a mass and program,.
The Agri-Fishery and Eco-Tourism Expo and an art exhibit will open on the same day.
An open dance sport competition and a live band will culminate the opening day.
Other activities that will add color to this year’s celebration are the battle of the bands, cook-off challenge, bike fest, street dance battle, job fair, color fun run with celebrity guests, folk dance competition, and dog show.
Miss Guimaras will be crowned on May 20, while the Mr. Guimaras pageant will take place on May 18.
The provincial government has also prepared for sports enthusiasts who will come to Manggahan. There will be water sports and a jet ski showcase, jujitsu, a volleyball tournament, and basketball where the Philippine Basketball League will play.
The festivities will conclude on May 22 in conjunction with the 31st anniversary of Guimaras becoming a province.
A thanksgiving mass will be offered before the provincehood anniversary program./PN
