The composition of the teams for the men’s and women’s all-star game was selected from the competing teams during the Guimaras Volleyball Championship Season 3 Elite Edition late last year.

Medals and trophies were to be given to the winners of the men’s and women’s exhibition match with the Best Spiker, Best Setter, Best Libero and Best Player of the match receiving separate medals.

The exhibition match is set to be graced by Governor Samuel Gumarin, Sibunag Mayor Luben Vilches, municipal officials of Sibunag and Buenavista vice-mayor Cecile Gumarin.

“We are inviting everyone to witness this thrilling competition. Let us support our own sports programs and discover potential talents who will banner our province in various sports tournaments,” said event organizer Richard Gabayoyo.

“We’re thankful for this opportunity and we want the public knows that Guimaras sports will be active this year onwards,” he added. “We are hopeful that this event will become institutionalize.”

Magnolia Hotshots is hoping to continue its winning run in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup when it begins its 2019 Honda PBA Philippine Cup campaign tonight against TNT KaTropa at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Hotshots head coach Chito Victolero said that he believes that his squad has the tools to compete for another championship as they have kept the squad intact with only rookie Michael Calisaan as the newcomer.

“To become a champion is a test of character because all the teams will prepare hard for us,” Victolero said. “Kailangan namin mag-level up sa preparation, sa desire, sa effort.”

Ang goal kasi namin every conference is try to prepare for one game at a time…battle cry namin is 1-0 every single game,” added Victolero, who captured his first PBA title in two seasons.

Victolero added that their intact lineup will be key in another title run with the chemistry among the players already built.

“We are keeping the team intact. Ang ganda ng chemistry kaya dapat huwag galawin,” said Victolero. “‘Yun din siguro ang isa sa mga naging key sa championship run namin nung Governors’ Cup.”

Returning for the Hotshots were Paul Lee, Mark Barroca, Jio Jalalon, Ian Sangalang, Rafi Reavis, Peter June Simon, Rome dela Rosa, Aldrech Ramos, Rodney Brondial, Kyle Pascual, Robert Herndon, Justin Melton, Bam Gamalinda, Gryann Mendoza and Mon Abundo./PN
