ILOILO City – The provincial government of Guimaras wants to temporarily suspend the return of their locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
Vice Gov. John Edward Gando said the provincial government will write a letter about this to the regional inter-agency task force (RIATF) on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as they want to avoid crowding in the quarantine facilities here where the province houses most of their LSIs who returned.
“We will not accept the LSIs for now para matutukan naton ang una nga batch, especially ang mga patients who are under quarantine period. (This is) to avoid man naton nga mangin crowded ang quarantine facilities naton. If they completed their quarantine period, then that’s the time nga mag-accept naman kita (liwat) sang LSIs,” Gando explained.
As of July 16, 23 Guimarasnons tested positive for COVID-19. Some of them are undergoing isolation in three hotels in this city while others in the quarantine centers in the island province.
“I hope na ma consider sang RIATF ang aton appeal. This is our strategy in order for others not to be infected and for the fast recovery (of those who tested positive),” said Gando.
He reminded the public to always wear face masks and maintain social distancing, especially when riding the motorbancas going in and out of Guimaras./PN
