ILOILO City – Wary of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) transmission in Guimaras, Gov. Samuel Gumarin urged his constituents anew to follow quarantine protocols.
According to the governor, nine individuals were nabbed for violating the island province’s quarantine protocols. His provincial legal officer Atty. Jehiel Cusa is now studying what possible cases will be filed against them.
“May ara nga gin pang-hold kay naga butig sang ila edad kag may ara man nga naga-violate sang akon mandu sa social distancing. Madamo gid mga dungol. We are doing this to protect residents from COVID-19,” said Gumarin.
Atty. Cusa already charged those individuals who violated Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code and Paragraph (e), section 9 of Republic Act 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.
“We are warning the public to stay at home as much as possible because we have locally stranded individuals who tested positive of the virus,” he said.
To date, Guimaras is the only province in Region 6 without a confirmed COVID-19 case./PN
