CAPIZ – An incumbent barangay kagawad of Barangay Dapdapan, Sapian, Capiz was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Vergelio Obugan Peralta, 58, is currently in the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Capiz.
A search warrant against Peralta for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, was issued by Judge Judith D. Orendain-Tonogbanua of the Regional Trial Court Branch 20 in Mambusao, Capiz dated July 3, 2023.
Joint elements of the Sapian Municipal Police Station, led by Lieutenant Merry Chris M. Dela, and the CIDG-Capiz conducted the search at 7:46 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4.
