Gun, ammos land Boracay man in jail

BORACAY – A man was arrested in Sitio Malabunot, Barangay Manoc-manoc for illegal possession of firearm, a police report showed.

A magnum revolver loaded with six live bullets was recovered from the 35-year-old resident Don Salvador around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.

According to the Boracay police, an informant told them that Salvador was showing the gun to his neighbors while having a drinking binge that day.

Upon verification, police officers went to the area. Salvador – upon seeing the officers – threw the gun on the ground.

Salvador failed to present the police the gun’s registration documents.

He was brought to the Boracay police station where he was detained.

Salvador was facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Ivisan homicide try suspect falls

Accused of attempted homicide, a man was arrested in Barangay Poblacion Norte, Ivisan, Capiz.

The 29-year-old John Dirk Jumantoc of Barangay Malocloc Sur, Ivisan was caught around 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday on the strength of an arrest warrant the court issued in relation to Criminal Case No. 5398 he faces.

Jumantoc was detained at the Ivisan municipal police station lockup facility.

A bail bond worth P24,000 was recommended for his temporary liberty./PN
