The towns of Dumalag, Pontevedra and President Roxas logged one violator each.
Following this, CPPO spokesperson Captain Merry Chris M. Dela Cruz cautioned the public anew against carrying and transporting firearms and other deadly weapons during the election period until June 11, 2025.
Last week, Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6, urged firearm holders to strictly adhere to the gun ban regulations.
He also emphasized that Comelec checkpoints will be strictly implemented in strategic areas across the region as the national and local elections draw closer.
The gun ban and Comelec checkpoints are being enforced in accordance with Republic Act No. 7166 (An Act Providing for Synchronized National and Local Elections and for Electoral Reforms) and Comelec Resolution No. 11067, which was promulgated on September 25, 2024.
The said Comelec resolution stated that no person shall bear, carry, or transport firearms or other deadly weapons in public places, including any building, street, park, private vehicle or public conveyance, even if licensed to possess or carry the same, unless authorized in writing by the Comelec./PN
