ILOILO City – A member of a robbery and gun-for-hire group operating in the province of Iloilo was arrested while attending a court hearing for his illegal drug case in Dumangas town.
The 30-year-old Dunkin Alexy Ormigas of Barangay Ungka, Jaro, Iloilo City was surprised when, after his court hearing around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, he was handcuffed by policemen from Jaro district here and Dumangas.
Judge Guillijie Lim of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 22 issued Ormigas’ arrest warrant for theft on February 17, 2014.
The alleged theft happened in Jaro.
“We received information that he had a court hearing in Dumangas. We decided to serve his arrest warrant there,” said Senior Inspector Herbert Ballego, Jaro police chief.
Ormigas was a member of the Eliseo “Magkal” Mabayag group.
He was charged for conspiring in selling illegal drugs with Mabayag who was eventually killed in a shootout with the police in December 18, 2013.
Mabayag fought back when policemen tried to serve him with 11 arrest warrants in Barangay Sto. Rosario, Dumangas.
Ormigas was with Mabayag that time but he managed to escape./PN
