‘Gunrunner’ nabbed in Pavia; 3 guns seized

ILOILO – Authorities confiscated three caliber .45 pistols from an alleged gunrunner who was arrested during an entrapment operation in Barangay Mali-ao, Pavia town around 8:37 p.m. on Monday, September 2.

The suspect was identified as truck driver Jarell Metcha, 34, and a resident of the said barangay.

Joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Iloilo City Field Unit (CIDG-Iloilo CFU), CIDG-Iloilo Provincial Field Unit, Regional Special Operations Team, Iloilo Maritime Police Station, and Pavia Municipal Police Station caught the suspect after he agreed to sell three caliber .45 pistols to an undercover police officer for P40,000.

Aside from the illegal firearms and boodle money, also recovered from the suspect were six steel magazine assemblies, cellular phone, backpack, and driver’s license.

The suspect was taken into custody by the CIDG-Iloilo CFU. He is facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act)./PN
