KALIBO, Aklan – A Philippine Army reservist was nabbed for alleged gunrunning during an entrapment operation in this capital town.
The 42-year old John Arboleda did not resist arrest after selling a .45-caliber pistol to a poseur-buyer for P18,000 around 7 a.m. on March 22 along Bayanihan Road in Barangay Pook, police said.
Municipal deputy police chief for operations Senior Inspector Ronald Paclibar said Arboleda has been under surveillance.
“Namonitor natin siya na palaging nagpapaputok ng baril sa kanilang lugar at sa gunrunning,” Paclibar added.
When frisked, Arboleda’s yielded another .45-caliber pistol loaded with live bullets.
The police also seized 23 live ammunition from Arboleda’s motorcycle.
The officers also conducted a follow-up operation at Arboleda’s house in Barangay Andagao on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Bienvenido Barrios of the Regional Trial Court in Kalibo.
There, they recovered a .9mm pistol, gun magazines and more ammunition.
“Itong mga baril ay mga paltik at walang mga dokumento,” Paclibar said.
Arboleda was detained at the Kalibo municipal police station lockup facility and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
