Gunrunning suspect arrested

BACOLOD City – Joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the police station of Cauayan, Negros Occidental arrested a gunrunning suspect in a buy-bust operation.

Noe Moreno, 44, was caught in Purok 1, Barangay Man-uling, Cauayan on Jan. 5 at around 3:45 p.m.

He yielded the following:

* marked money used in the buy-bust composed of one genuine  P100 bill

* bundle of money of different denominations

* one .45 pistol

* two magazines

* 10 live ammunitions

* identification cards

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, public information officer of the Police Regional Office 6, the operation was in line with the intensified campaign against loose firearms.

Moreno was brought to CIDG Bacolod City Field Unit (CFU) for proper booking and documentation.

He would be charged with illegal possession of firearms./PN
