Guns, ammos land Bacong man in jail

BACOLOD City – In Barangay Banilad, Bacong, Negros Oriental, a man was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The 42-year-old resident Arnold Calpis was detained at the municipal police station’s lockup facility and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Calpis was arrested around 9:10 a.m. on Wednesday after police officers found several unlicensed firearms and ammunition at his house.

These included a .22-caliber revolver with five live bullets, a homemade shotgun, a defective .38-caliber gun, a Frontier revolver ACC-P3, an M203 explosive, eight live bullets of a 12-gauge shotgun, 29 M16 rifle bullets, six live bullets of a .45-caliber gun, two live bullets of a .9mm gun, six live bullets of a .38-caliber gun, two 50-caliber submachine gun live bullets, 14 M14 rifle live bullets, an improvised flash suppressor, and a magazine of a .45-caliber firearm.
