BACOLOD City – Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson approves of appointing a non-resident of Negros Occidental as the next chief of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO).

Currently, two candidates are vying to succeed the outgoing NOCPPO director, Colonel Leo Pamittan, and both have recently met with the governor.

However, Lacson stated on Wednesday morning, Jan. 24, that he will await the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) recommendation.

He expressed hope that the incoming provincial police director would remain impartial, particularly with the midterm elections approaching next year.

The governor has already challenged the forthcoming NOCPPO chief to excel, noting that the last three directors received awards as outstanding provincial police directors.

Colonel Pamittan is set to retire soon after completing his term as the leader of the Negros Occidental police force.

His tenure as NOCPPO chief was marked by exceptional performance, with the provincial police force being honored as the Best Police Provincial Office nationwide last year, achieving a rating of 92.33 percent.

Pamittan assumed the role of NOCPPO director in January 2022. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
